WHY NOW?

The Minnesota State Capitol Building opened to the public in 1905. The Minnesota State Capitol Restoration Project seeks to restore the Capitol and prepare it for the next 100 years... leaving a legacy for all Minnesotans.

A Capitol Predesign Study has identified critical deficiencies and future needs in the building's infrastructure, accessibility, security and code compliance. Code deficiencies that would be addressed include life-safety, exits, fire and smoke alarms, fire sprinklers, fresh air requirments and restroom facilities.
